The Grand Simplicity of Château de Moissac-Bellevue

During this hot spell, my choice location to cool down would be to step into this starkly beautiful setting of stone and plaster. Château de Moissac-Bellevue hails from the early 17th century on a Provençal hilltop.

The striking stairwell reveals evidence that most folks pass their hands over the stone as they descend the stairs.

You can just feel the refuge of the kitchen's coolness.

What a treasure to rest in these peaceful rooms, admiring the Château's walls and decor- the very definition of simple and elegant.

Had to have a little gilt in here!

Red, White and Blue

Personally, I enjoy this version of red and white with a touch of blue!

Stone, plaster and patina= perfection.

Happy Fourth of July!
Have a safe one!

My Muses and a Thank You!

Without inspirations, I wouldn't be able to do my work. I need visuals! They may change after a while, but I am usually drawn to similar things. Here are a few of my current muses.

A classically shaped plaster urn

Beautiful patinas and unique color combinations

Grottesca designs and gilding

Sgraffito on buildings, such as this in Florence

Fine design

What are some of your muses?

I invite you to check out Regina Garay's generous blog post today over at Fauxology where she covers the groin vault ceilings that I painted. She will be reporting on groin ceilings all week- yummy! Thanks so much, Regina!

Blue, White and Rustic

So we walked through the client's house, out the door and into the rear of the property. We looked up and- Voila! This darling stone garden house sat before us with its mushroom roof. What a cool place to have a party. Clematis vines, wisteria vines- bliss!

Then we walked in.
Blue and white. Wrought iron. Need I say more?

I could have lived in here! If it was in California or Florida,
it might have been possible for most of the year.
A girl can dream!
