Gilded Ebony

This is the amazing gilded ebony statue in the only Gothic church in Rome, 


Santa Maria sopra Minerva was built between 1280-1370. It is located on the Piazza della Minerva, just behind the Pantheon. Its very unassuming exterior makes it easy to pass by.

We could spend a month in Rome and not see all that it holds!

A contemporary pattern... from the year 1280




It amazes me how talented the artists and artisans were many centuries ago.

This thoroughly contemporary pattern is part of the magnificent ceiling in the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, the Gothic church that stands a block from the Pantheon in Roma.
