Scene Stealer
Here's a quick peek at the arch that we created a week ago for a wedding ceremony.
With colors the essence of fall, it was dramatic against the color of the room.
Some of the flowers you see are various orchids and berries, pincushion flowers, eucalyptus, and bittersweet.
The little balls are from the Kousa dogwood tree.
The trick was that Pieter and his staff had to move the arch to a totally different part of the room following the ceremony. Yikes!

Swaying in the Breeze
It is sunny and cool and you will find me outdoors today,
enjoying the fall with its colors and grasses.

Harvest Play Time
Time to go outside!
The cleaning will wait. The laundry will wait. The seasons will not.
Enjoy the fall weather while you can (at least in the northern hemisphere). For those of you experiencing spring, can you smell the hyacinths yet? We're smelling the scent of crushed leaves under our feet and the first wood fires in our fireplaces.
This lovely stone relief harvest girl is part of a building front in Barcelona.
I'll be taking you there next week- care to join me?

Color Play
Appreciating the colors of fall- they are like no other.
Wouldn't you just love to see inside this house and that room with the slanted roof?

Fall Color
Enjoy this fall Saturday, with its most beautiful weather...
and crazy late dahlia. The blooms in the yard are now down to a trickle, so each one is appreciated that much more.
Off to do some fall yard cleanup!

It Feels Like It's Here
I enjoy...
that little chill in the air,
the bittersweet that has almost reached the top of the street light and is about to pop,
the rose hips and berries everywhere.
The deer have feasted on the sweet potato vine and I am left with stubs.
Thankfully, they have not bothered the hostas.
What's going on in your neck of the woods?

Turning Point
Now that most of us have cooled off a bit- enjoy this last unofficial day of summer!
I actually am going to do a bit of lime plastering to finish up a project. I hope to show you what's been keeping me busy these past few weeks very soon.
What are you doing today?

Bye bye Fall 2010
We had a long and lovely fall this year. My container plants are still flowering, but after Friday's sleet and cold, the leaves will be down in no time.
