One Beautiful Building

Strolling down La Rambla in Barcelona, you can't help but be captivated by this corner building's beauty.  Built in 1820 as a noodle and semolina factory for the Figueras family, it was later redone by the stage designer, Antoni Ros i Güell, in 1902. The building is an excellent example of Art Nouveau style. Mosaics, wrought iron, stained glass and stucco are all here.

In 1986, the building was purchased by Antonio Escriba Serra, the "Chocolate Magician" and his son Christian. Christian and his wife, Patricia Schmidt, a pastry chef from Brazil run the pastry shop, called Pastisseria Escribà.  Christian Escriba is a renowned artist who blends pastries that are carried in the most famous shops in Europe.

Wow is all I can say!
