Metal + Wood = Gorgeous
I had never seen a metalised floor before. These are made by Art/Deco , a Belgian-Franco company with its headquarters in Belgium and production site in France.
The wood is milled in northern France at their environmentally-aware sawing mill specializing in oak, the “Ardennes Françaises”. The boards are made of a thin layer of pure metal on a wooden, structured surface. After the metal is applied, it is sanded and polished to give it its luscious metallic gloss while still seeing the wood grain.
"It is not metal paint. It is an application of pure metal in cold and liquid form by a patented process. It does not conduct electricity and it is non-galvanic. It can easily be cleaned, and it is foot-traffic resistant."
The company also specializes in "plain" wood marquetry.
This is about as far from plain as one can be!
The nickel finish interspersed with oak.
Aren't these beautiful?

An interesting concept which I've never heard about. Warm wishes.
ReplyDeleteNever thought about a metalised floor, what a brilliant idea. I designed metalised lamp shades and had on some wooden tables metal paint, but floor? Seems to me very unique.
ReplyDeleteLove the mix of oak and nickel, creating a kind of parkett.
