Wallpaper Essence: Deborah Bowness

Deborah Bowness produces wallpaper art. Her distinctive, quirky style is easy to spot, with her quintessentially British, hand-painted papers.

Her images are digitally printed, screenprinted by hand, and then selectively hand colored to create added depth to the papers. Deborah specializes in trompe l'oeil, using life-size objects to create the illusions of books, furniture, clothing, etc.. Personally, I prefer the way the wallpapers simply hang as wall art.

Some of her private commissions have included clients such as Reebok, Selfridges, Philippe Starck, Christian Lacroix for the Hotel du Petit Moulin and Polydor Records.

Here she has printed and manipulated the parrot images and is ready to color selected areas.
